Burton Snowboards: Made In Austria

16 03 2010

According to a statement released today, global snowboard pimp Burton Snowboards is moving production to their spot in Austria. Citing higher costs as a major reason for the move, Burton will continue to design and develop it’s line exclusively in Vermont. R&D will move to the global HQ in Burlington. This will allow The B to push out rideable magic sticks for it’s stable of shreds at a mind-blowing pace.  Shifting the manufacturing side to the Euros will help ease the cost of production and allow Burton to keep on V-rockin’ during these trying economic times.

Burton CEO Laurent Potdevin:
“It makes the most economic sense to produce all of our high-end snowboards in Austria. Here in Vermont, we will continue to focus on advanced product development, which will allow us to bring the latest snowboard technology to riders faster than ever before.”

So going forward, look for Burton to continue pushing the industry while keeping the price of their shwag a little lower!
